Star Wars, whose first release was in 1977, is becoming quite expansive, production-wise, not unlike the even more numerous MCU. There’s already prequel, sequel, and anthology films, and what looks like two further trilogies in the early planning stages. There are also many spin-off series of books, comics, video games, and fan fiction. Much of those licensed spin-off materials were deprecated canonically after the franchise’s sale to Disney in 2012, and the polarizing opinions of that decision arguably became the most apparent in fan reactions to 2017’s The Last Jedi. Regardless, this blog primarily focuses on the films.
